The Crowbar

Push harder, fix faster, win the argument, keep score. Then go cold and call her complicated.

That’s the crowbar, and most good men were handed one. Nobody showed them the key. She isn’t a lock to be picked. She’s a door that opens from the inside, for the man who makes her feel safe enough to turn the handle herself.

Eight pins. One door. Hers.

A lock opens when every pin sets.

Why a woman is handing you the key

Barbara Queen

Mon cher, you may be wondering why a woman is teaching you this. Because I’ve stood on the other side of the door.

For years I was the woman who felt unseen, and I let him know it. I criticized when I could have admired. I fought for control when I could have trusted. I complained when I could have inspired him. He went quiet. Of course he did; most good men do in that kind of weather.

It took the end of my marriage to see my own part. Then I went to school on it: attachment, polarity, and what a woman is really feeling under the edge in her voice. I learned what makes a man shut down, and what makes him move mountains.

Today I have never been softer, or more certain of what a good man can do with the right key. So no, this isn’t a trick. It’s the whisper I wish I’d been given sooner.

Take the key. Use it on one woman.

Madame

The door opens from her side.
You just have to know how to knock.
